Sleepy Saturday Nights
August 12th, 2005
Originally written on July 30 and was thought lost to the abyss that is Blogger. Not so. I found it and have reposted for my humiliation.
It mildly depresses me that I have such difficult meeting people. This is not exclusive to girls. I have trouble meeting and getting to know anyone. It’s not that I do not like people. I enjoy people quite a bit most of the time. I have always heard the best way to get to know someone, and to let me them know you find them interesting, is to ask them questions about themselves. And I do. But it is difficult to ask people interesting questions if you do not know who they are. It’s a Catch22 of sorts. This is of course not an impossible task, for many people are not at all hindered by this. I am. To compound the problem, I am satisfied to be alone. My favorite definition of extroverts and introverts is that an introvert thinks with his mouth closed and an extravert thinks with his mouth open. A more appropriate definition, to this monologue, is that extraverts relax and re-energize by being around people and introverts do this alone. I often think it would be nice to call up a friend I rarely see on a Saturday afternoon and ask them if they want to hang out. But by that time comes I am tired from doing chores or whatever else I have been doing and I do not feel like putting out any effort to converse with someone that I am not intimately familiar with. So I do not.
I Gave In
August 10th, 2005
Ok. I gave up and installed Typo. I haven’t had enough time to work on learning Rails, and Typo is so nice that I installed it and will be using it as a blog. My plan is to move most of the posts here over there… lots of work. Please go there from now on for blog posts.
Wonderwall
August 10th, 2005
Today was gonna be the day?
But they’ll never throw it back to you
By now you should’ve somehow
Realized what you’re not to do
I don’t believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now
And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
I don’t know how
Because maybe
You’re gonna be the one who saves me ?
And after all
You’re my wonderwall
Afternoon Naps

Ever take a nap that began around 5pm… and ended around… 9pm?
I’ve heard about them. Never taken one myself… Never. Ever.

Better come with an army
Are you feeling feeling okay baby?
Na-na-na-na-na-na
Take your economy car and your suitcase
Take your psycho little dogs
Take it all away

Wisdom Teeth
August 5th, 2005
I am getting all four of my wisdom teeth pulled out tomorrow. Wish me luck. I am not working tomorrow and Friday in anticipation. I’m not worried, it might be kinda nice to lay around the house and do nothing. Of course the pain probably won’t be great.
Happy Birthday to Me!

I turn 20 years old today. Yay!
Optimus Keyboard
August 1st, 2005
I really want one. Really badly want one.
So what is it? It is a keyboard where each key has a little screen that can dynamically display different icons depending on what program is running. It can display normal text, or different languages, or Photoshop icons, or colored weapon icons if you are playing Quake3. You can set up side icons to open up Firefox and display that icon, or open up Winamp and display that icon. The possibilities are endless!
Let’s look at some reactions shall we?
- Saw11 GTH: holy crap
- Saw11 GTH: thats brilliant
- downenemyRHIT: i want one too
- DshBury: SWEET
- DshBury: WOOT
- DshBury: such an awesome idea. . .
- DshBury: Why didn’t I think of that before?!!
As you can see I’m not the only one who thinks this is cool. Unfortunately it does not come out till at least 2006.
More Vista
August 1st, 2005
There’s a review that sounds hopeful after the author got a chance to look at the beta version of Windows Vista. Nothing sounded too terribly exciting to me.
- I like the ideas behind a better interface for various things including Explorer. As I’ve already posted, IE7 looks like crap. They are only upgrading enough to keep your average user from switching to Firefox or Opera, instead of creating a quality browser.
- I’m not sure I like the Virtual Folders. I guess I will have to see how they are implemented, but I think I would prefer to have complete control over my documents.
- I hate the monstrosities that are the navigation icons for folders, although I’m sure this can be changed. I just do not understand why Microsoft chooses such terrible interfaces to show people. Do they think the people who care about operating system betas have terrible eyesight?
So there are a bunch of minor interface changes. It is going to take more than some interface improvements to Explorer to make me want to change OS’s.
I Hate Blogger
July 30th, 2005
I had just written up a very nice introspective post that was really developing well when I noticed that there were keyboard shortcuts. Being the stupid moron that I am, I had to try one out and of course picked “Draft,” the only one of the four that would changed pages without saving what I had written. This is the second post that Blogger has eaten.
I am not going to rewrite what I had written, beautiful as it was. I will however provide Cliff Notes. In bulleted format. I suck at socializing and not only with women. Meeting people is a drag.I often plan to hang out with friends I rarely see on Saturday nights, but I end up being too tired by the afternoon from doing chores. It is restful for extraverts to hang out with people, introverts rest alone. (See previous item) I fail at being social, but today I even failed at being nerdy. Life really sucks. And now for some humor. Not many of my posts are humorous.
- RaydenUni: AUGH
- RaydenUni: i hate blogger!
- RaydenUni: it just erased a big long post!
- Saw11 GTH: ?
- Saw11 GTH: lol
- Saw11 GTH: sucker
- RaydenUni: augh
- RaydenUni: i tried to see what one of their keyboard shortcuts is and it changed pages and erased it all
- Saw11 GTH: bummage
- RaydenUni: AUGh
- RaydenUni: now i feel like breaking something
- RaydenUni: wow i feel great now
- Saw11 GTH: did you break something?
- RaydenUni: no
- RaydenUni: i don’t generally act irrationally
- RaydenUni: besides, the closest object at the moment is my laptop
- Saw11 GTH: break something of lems
- Lem malabooyah: Uh…don’t break anything of mine.
Windows Vista
July 29th, 2005
aka Longhorn. New screenshots direct from Microsoft. Looks like there is enough alpha blending to kill a cow, not to mention your desktop. I just hope it allows for much more modular use of things like desktop shells.
Edit: Here is depressing news on IE7. I have gained a new hate for IE now that I have been building some webpages. Firefox displays things correctly and IE… doesn’t.

This blog is obsolete. It’s done. It’s finished. As are yours. Go see for yourself.
RaydenUni.com
July 27th, 2005
I finally got some hosting! Woot! RaydenUni.com is mine! Not much up there yet but I will be spending some time to make it cool.
I got 2 years of hosting for an incredible price. The price of ~$8/month is pretty good for what I got, but I found a promotional discount that dropped $84 off the $190. So all in all I got:
- 2400mb storage
- 120gb bandwidth
- PHP 4 & 5
- Ruby on Rails
- Unlimited mySQL databases
- 600 email accounts (I really needed this)
- And a bunch of other cool things.
For around $100! I’m feeling good about that. RaydenUni.com
