Rails 1.0
December 13th, 2005
Rails 1.0 has finally been released. With a quick gem install rails --include-dependencies I updated it on my laptop! Apparently 1.0 is focused more on stability than new features. So do not hope for anything fancy. It hopefully means it will be more widely accepted by webhosts though.

Spent a couple hours trading stories with an Ojai dad that is in charge of IT for the Institute of Theoretical Physics at UCSB. Strongly avoids Windows, loves Berkely Unix, loves OS X. Thinks Rails is the hottest thing out right now.
Is RHIT going to install it?

No. Eric and I talked to a guy at IT and he said that since Rails is specifically for web servers, and their servers are also the AFS servers, it would be a security risk. We did get them to install it somewhere else for our CMS project though.
