Philosophical Ranting of an Engineer

Leaving You

March 31st, 2006

Combining the lyrics of these songs seemed very appropriate. The first lyrics are from Someday You Will Be Loved by Death Cab for Cutie and the indented lyrics are from Somebody More Like You by Nickel Creek.

I once knew a girl
In the years of my youth
With eyes like the summer
All beauty and truth
In the morning I fled
Left a note and it read
Someday you will be loved.

I didn’t hear you say you’re sorry
The fault must be mine
I wish you all the best of luck
At finding somebody more like you

I cannot pretend that I felt any regret
Cause each broken heart will eventually mend
As the blood runs red down the needle and thread
Someday you will be loved

You said you’d love me always, truly
I must have changed
Cause you don’t need me like you used to
I hope you find somebody more like you

You’ll be loved you’ll be loved
Like you never have known
The memories of me
Will seem more like bad dreams
Just a series of blurs
Like I never occurred
Someday you will be loved

I hope you finally find someone
Someone that you trust
And give him everything
I hope you meet someone your height
So you can see eye-to-eye
With someone as small as you

You may feel alone when you’re falling asleep
And every time tears float down your cheeks
But I know your heart belongs to someone you’ve yet to meet
Someday you will be loved

You came out of nowhere, made me smile
Then tore me in two
Saying, “We’re very different people”
So dear, I hope you find somebody more like you

You’ll be loved you’ll be loved
Like you never have known
The memories of me
Will seem more like bad dreams
Just a series of blurs
Like I never occurred
Someday you will be loved

I hope you find somebody more like you

You’ll be loved you’ll be loved
Like you never have known
The memories of me
Will seem more like bad dreams
Just a series of blurs
Like I never occurred
Someday you will be loved
Someday you will be loved

I remember a time when I defended that The Postal Service was not emo, but this was more because I refused to admit that I listened to anything emo. But now I go back and read the lyrics and listen to Death Cab songs and, yes, it is emo to the max.

It pains me somewhat to say that I listen to emo music, but whatever.

I didn’t know you listened to Nickel Creek.

I love them. I made a post of that very song once…
